    Description

Proudly presented today is this extraordinary Hopi Kachina doll, depicting Masibol, the Serpent Carrier. Standing  7 inches tall, it was carved by the young and talented Philander Shelton, grandson of the legendary Henry Shelton. This doll was inspired by a story told to Philander by his grandmother, Mary Shelton, who very sadly passed away several weeks after telling him this story. She told him a story about how, many years ago, she went to the spring at Hotevilla, and as she gathered water, a large black snake came out of the rocks and stared at her. It had startling yellow eyes. She took this to be a manifestation of Palolokong, the legendary Water Serpent, and did nothing to disturb it. Philander was so impressed with this story, he immediately began carving a large Masibol, and when that was completed, carved this small version. This is really a remarkable Kachina doll, one that is rarely carved, and even then almost never with the serpent, and it would look great in any collection. Buy with complete confidence, for as you all know, if the buyer is unsatisfied for ANY reason, i will immediately return the full purchase price, shipping included. The Shelton Family is a living legacy, and this is a part of that legacy. Many Thanks for your kind consideration, and as always, Best Regards, Rich
