    Description

This is a hand carved Kachina by the Hopi artist Patrick Howard. It is carved in the traditional style from a cottonwood tree's seasoned, dried root. It is decorated and hand painted according to its identity and purpose. The dancer appears often with Mudheads in the Kivas and imitates the steps, motions and cry of the eagle.
It stands about 12 inches high including the base and the wings span 11 inches.  It was carved in 2008 and is signed by the artist, P. Howard, on the bottom of the base.
